The 90/10 Principle

Image
by Stephen Covey Discover this 90/10 Principle. It will change your life ( or atleast the way you react to situations ). --- WHAT IS THIS PRINCIPLE? 10% of life is made up of what happens to you... 90% of life is decided by how you react. WHAT THAT THIS MEAN? We really have NO control over the 10% of what happens to us. The 90% is different. YOU determine the 90% HOW? By your reaction. You cannot control a red light. However, you can control your reaction. Do not let people fool you. YOU can control how you react. ---o0o--- Let's see this example: You are having breakfast with your family. Your daughter knocks over a  cup of coffee onto your business shirt. YOU HAVE NO CONTROL over what has just happened. What happens next will be determined by HOW YOU REACT . ... You curse. You harshly scold your daughter  for knocking the cup over. She breaks down in tears. After scolding her, you turn to your wife and criticize her for placing the cup too close to the edge o

Saying GRACE in a restaurant

Image
Last week, I took my children to a restaurant. My six-year-old son asked if he could say grace.   As we bowed our heads he said, "God is good, God is great. Thank you for the food, and I would even thank you more if Mom gets us ice cream for dessert. And Liberty and justice for all! Amen!"   Along with the laughter from the other customers nearby, I heard a woman remark, "That's what's wrong with this country. Kids today don't even know how to pray. Asking God for ice cream! Why, I never!"   Hearing this, my son burst into tears and asked me, "Did I do it wrong? Is God mad at me?" As I held him and assured him that he had done a terrific job, and God was certainly not mad at him, an elderly gentleman approached the table. He winked at my son and said, "I happen to know that God thought that was a great prayer."    "Really?" my son asked.   "Cross my heart," the man replied. Then, in a theatrical whi

True Love

Image
"Life is not about the people who act true to your face. It is about the people who remain true behind your back." Just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to, doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have. Ralph and Edna were both patients in a mental hospital.. One day while they were walking past the hospital swimming pool, Ralph suddenly jumped into the deep end. He sank to the bottom of the pool and stayed there. Edna promptly jumped in to save him. She swam to the bottom and pulled him out. When the Head Nurse Director became aware of Edna's heroic act she immediately ordered her to be discharged from the hospital, as she now considered her to be mentally stable. When she went to tell Edna the news she said, 'Edna, I have good news and bad news. The good news is you're being discharged, since you were able to rationally respond to a crisis by jumping in and saving the life of the person you love... I have conclude

Why Some People Have All the Luck

By Professor Richard Wiseman, University of Hertfordshire Why do some people get all the luck while others never get the breaks they deserve? A psychologist says he has discovered the answer. His study in his own words:-- Ten years ago, I set out to examine luck. I wanted to know why some people are always in the right place at the right time, while others consistently experience ill fortune. I placed advertisements in national newspapers asking for people who felt consistently lucky or unlucky to contact me. Hundreds of extraordinary men and women volunteered for my research and over the years, I have interviewed them, monitored their lives and had them take part in experiments. The results reveal that although these people have almost no insight into the causes of their luck, their thoughts and behavior are responsible for much of their good and bad fortune. Take the case of seemingly chance opportunities. Lucky people consistently encounter such opportunities, whereas unlu
