Just Another Day at the Office

Image
Let's see if you can relate... My assistant is out sick today. The printer's out of toner. My car is in the shop again, So I'm forced to drive a loner. Two new software programs to learn, But the verbiage makes me dizzy. I've tried to call up tech support, But their line is always busy. The repairman's torn the copier apart, So my report will be quite late. With people swooping in like flies, How can I concentrate? The telephone rings endlessly. There's gossip in the hall. My candy dish is empty now. And a salesman's come to call. Sometimes I'd like to chuck it all. Trade this madness in for boredom. But the kids needs braces, clothes, and shoes. And how else can I afford them? * That day is lost in which one has not laugh. Do not live to work... instead, work to live. ---o0o--- Humans are born with two eyes, but with one tongue, in order that they should see twice as much as they say.

The Old Shoe

Image
I showered and shaved I adjusted my tie I got there and sat In a pew just in time. Bowing my head in prayer As I closed my eyes I saw the shoe of the man next to me Touching my own... I sighed. With plenty of room on either side I thought, 'Why must our soles touch?' It bothered me, his shoe touching mine But it didn't bother him much.

Do not pray for easy life; Pray to be stronger man. Do not pray for task to equal your powers; Pray for powers to equal your tasks. Then the doing of your work shall be no miracle, but yourself shall be miracle. Everyday, you shall wonder at yourself, at the richness of life which has come to you by the grace of God. -Philip Brooks

No Time

Image
I knelt to pray but not for long, I had too much to do. I had to hurry and get to work, For bills would soon be due. So I knelt and said a hurried prayer, And jumped up off my knees, My christian duty now is done, My soul could rest at ease. All day long I had no time To spread a word of cheer No time to speak of Christ to friends They'd laugh at me I'd fear. No Time, No Time... Too much to do, That was my constant cry. No Time to give to souls in need, But at last the time... Time to die. I went before the Lord, I came...stood with downcast eyes. For in His hands, He held a book, It was the Book of Life. God looked into His book and said, "Your name I cannot find... I once was going to write it down... But never found the time." ______________________ Forwarded by Digie Salamat

I Feared Until...

Image
I feared being alone Until I learned to like Myself. I feared failure Until I realized that I only Fail when I don't try. I feared success Until I realized that I had to try in order to be happy with myself. I feared people's opinions Until I learned that people would have opinions about me anyway. I feared rejection Until I learned to have faith in myself. I feared pain Until I learned that it's necessary for growth I feared the truth Until I saw the ugliness in lies. I feared life Until I experienced its beauty. I feared death Until I realized that it's not an end, but a beginning. I feared my destiny Until I realized that I had the power to change my life. I feared hate Until I saw that it was nothing more than ignorance. I feared love Until it touched my heart, making the darkness fade into endless sunny days. I feared ridicule Until I learned how to laugh at myself. I feared growing old Until I realized that I gained wisdom every day. I feared the future Until I r...

A Sad Dad's Poem

Image
TO MY CHILD Just for this morning, I am going to smile when I see your face and laugh when I feel like crying. Just for this morning, I will let you choose what you want to wear, and smile and say how perfect it is. Just for this morning, I am going to step over the laundry and pick you up and take you to the park to play. Just for this morning, I will leave the dishes in the sink, and let you teach me how to put that puzzle of yours together. Just for this afternoon, I will unplug the telephone and keep the computer off, and sit with you in the backyard and blow bubbles. Just for this afternoon, I will not yell once, not even a tiny grumble when you scream and whine for the ice cream truck, and I will buy you one if he comes by. Just for this afternoon, I won't worry about what you are going to be when you grow up, or second guess every decision I have made where you are concerned. Just for this afternoon, I will let you help me bake cookies, and I won't stand over you trying ...

Real Friend Test

Image
A simple friend, when visiting, acts like a guest. A real friend opens your refrigerator and helps himself and doesn't feel even the least bit weird shutting your 'Coke drawer' with her foot! A simple friend has never seen you cry. A real friend shoulder is soggy from your tears. A simple friend doesn't know your parents' first names. A real friend has their phone numbers in his address book. A simple friend brings a bottle of wine to your party. A real friend comes early to help you cook and stays late to help you clean. A simple friend hates it when you call after they've gone to bed. A real friend asks you why you took so long to call. A simple friend seeks to talk with you about your problems. A real friend seeks to help you with your problems. A simple friend wonders about your romantic history. A real friend could blackmail you with it! A simple friend thinks the friendship is over when you have an argument. A real friend calls you after you had a fi...
