Priorities

  Before reading the next paragraph, please answer this three-part question:  What is the single most significant thing you could begin doing regularly that would:  1. Make you more effective at your work?  2. Create a better atmosphere for your family?  3. Enrich your spiritual life? On the assumption now that you have named three specific things that would make your life better , let me pose one more question: Can you defend your choice to omit any of these three things from your schedule this week?

What is the next step that you would take if your expensive mobile phone or iPod gets wet in the rain or you dropped it in the wash bin? Such accidents are not very uncommon. Phones were always dropped in toilet bowls. Someone went to swim while the iPod was still in his pocket.

Flying First Class

A plane was on its way to London when Pathan in Economy Class got up, moved to the First Class section and sat down. The Air Hostess watched him do this and asked to see his ticket. She then told him that he will have to return to his Economy seat. He replied, " HA LOOO No way! I AM Pathan!! I LIKE THINGS MY WAY!! So she went into the cockpit and complained. Then the co-pilot went and tried to explain that, because he only paid for Economy, he was only entitled to an Economy seat and he would have to return to his original seat. Pathan replied, "I'm a Pathan .I'm going to London and I'm staying right here!" Exasperated, the co-pilot told the pilot that it was no use and he probably should have the police waiting when they land to make the arrest. "OK. I'll handle this," said the pilot.

Holy Spirit: The Power Source 06 I love this chapter because I love the Holy Spirit and His work in me and to me and through me and for me. I love how God chooses and uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things for His fame and glory.  I live to know Him and make Him known.  One of my most favorite verses in the bible is 2 Corinthians 4:7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power i s from God and not from us. The all surpassing power of God IS GOD – IS the Holy Spirit who lives within us! The Wood Coffin

A farmer got so old that he couldn't work the fields anymore. So he would spend the day just sitting on the porch. His son, still working the farm, would look up from time to time and see his father sitting there. "He's of no use any more," the son thought to himself, "he doesn't do anything!" One day the son got so frustrated by this, that he built a wood coffin, dragged it over to the porch, and told his father to get in. Without saying anything, the father climbed inside. After closing the lid, the son dragged the coffin to the edge of the farm where there was a high cliff. As he approached the drop, he heard a light tapping on the lid from inside the coffin.

The mind is like a parachute, it works best when it is opened. This is fun to do, but you have to follow the instructions very closely.   Do not cheat.   Answer the questions as you go along. A couple of days ago I was running (I use that term very loosely) on my treadmill, watching a DVD sermon by Louie Giglio... And I was BLOWN AWAY! I want to share what I learned.... He (Louie) was talking about how inconceivably BIG our God is... How He spoke the universe into being... How He breathes stars out of His mouth that are huge raging balls of fire.. Etc. Etc. Then He went on to speak of how this star-breathing, universe creating God ALSO knitted our human bodies together with amazing detail and wonder. At this point I am LOVING it (fascinating from a medical standpoint, you know.) . And I was remembering how I was constantly amazed during medical school as I learned more and more about God's handiwork. I remember so many times thinking..'How can ANYONE deny that a Creator did all of this???' Louie went on to talk about how we can trust that the God who created all this, also has the power to hold it all together when things seem to be falling apart...how our lo

One Afternoon in the Park

There once was a little boy who wanted to meet God. He knew it was a long trip to where God lived, so he packed his suitcase with Twinkies and a six-pack of root beer and he started his journey. When he had gone about three blocks, he met an old woman. She was sitting in the park just staring at some pigeons. The boy sat down next to her and opened his suitcase. He was about to take a drink from his root beer when he noticed that the old lady looked hungry, so he offered her a Twinkie. She gratefully accepted it and smiled at him. Her smile was so pretty that the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered her a root beer. Once again she smiled at him. The boy was delighted!

Put the Big Rocks on Your Calendar First

You decide this is the year you will finally get organized. Out comes the calendar. You know a cafeteria line of events are spread in front of you from which to choose. But you’re like a deer caught in the headlights on where to begin. You remember a story about a seminar presenter who placed a wide mouth gallon jar on the stage. He filled it to the top with some big rocks. He asked the audience if it was full and they yelled back, "Yes!" The presenter then took some smaller, gravelly rocks and poured them into the container. He asked again, "Is the jar full?" Catching on, the people said, "Probably not." Next went in sand followed by water until the jar was absolutely jam-packed.
